Terms of use
In effect since October 30, 2026
Version 2
Draft pending legal review. This is a preliminary text, written by the Buxy team so the app can ask for express consent from day one. Before launch, a Salvadoran lawyer reviews it. This is a translation; the Spanish version prevails.
These terms govern the use of Buxy. They must be accepted, together with the Privacy Policy, to create an account.
1. Who offers Buxy
Buxy is a personal finance app by Villasoftware, from El Salvador. In these terms, "Buxy" means the app and Villasoftware, which runs it.
2. What Buxy is and is not
- Buxy helps record and understand expenses, income, accounts, goals and debts.
- Buxy is not a bank; it does not hold money or move money.
- Buxy is not a financial, legal or tax adviser. What it shows is informational.
- The official balances and movements are the ones each bank reports. Buxy can be wrong when it reads or interprets.
3. Who can use Buxy
- Buxy is only for people 18 or older. When creating the account, the person confirms they are 18 or older.
- Buxy is intended for people in El Salvador. The country is chosen when creating the account.
4. The account
- Sign-in is with Google or with a one-time code sent to the email. There is no password.
- A person has a single account per verified email.
- Protecting access to the email protects the account: whoever gets into the email can get into Buxy.
- The person is responsible for what they do with their account.
5. Acceptable use
- Buxy may not be used for illegal activities, to harm the service or to access other people's accounts.
- Attempting to break security, overload the service or read other people's data is not allowed.
6. A test version
- Buxy is at an early stage. It may fail, change or pause.
- It is advisable to review the movements that are recorded automatically.
7. Plans and charges
- During the pilot, Buxy is free.
- There will be a founder plan with a charge. Its conditions are detailed in its own billing terms when it is activated.
8. The agent and its credits
- Buxy includes an assistant that answers questions about the person's finances.
- Its use is measured in credits, with a per-plan limit. The assistant's conditions are explained in the app.
9. Intellectual property
- The app, its design and its code belong to Villasoftware.
- The data the person records belongs to the person.
10. Limits of liability
- Buxy is offered "as is", with no guarantee that it is free of errors.
- To the extent allowed by El Salvador's consumer protection law, Villasoftware is not liable for decisions made based on what Buxy shows.
11. Suspension and closure
- Villasoftware may suspend or close an account that uses Buxy against these terms.
- The person may delete their account at any time from Settings.
12. Deleting the account
- Deleting the account deletes the person's data and their encryption key. Without that key, what was encrypted becomes unreadable.
- Pseudonymous records that do not identify the person remain, as described in the Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to these terms
- Each version has a number. A published version is never modified.
- If the change is material, acceptance of the new version is required to keep using Buxy.
- If the change is minor, such as a typo, it is published without asking for acceptance again.
14. Governing law and language
- These terms are governed by the laws of El Salvador, and any dispute is heard before its courts.
- The Spanish version prevails. The English version is a translation.
